Befar may be stored for up to 30 days at room temperature. Befar may be stored for up to two years if kept refrigerated. Befar Launched in Hong Kong. Befar, a new medicated cream, promises to be a safer, quicker treatment for impotence than Viagra. The cream was unveiled in Hong Kong by NexMed. NexMed has been selling Befar in China since last July 2001 and is ready to bring the medicated cream to the rest of Asia, and eventually the U.S. What type of results should be expected? Befar uses the active ingredient Alprox-TD, a derivative of Alprostadil. Alprox-TD works by widening the blood vessels in the penis, allowing it to be engorged with blood. Alprostadil has been used for several years around the world and was administered by injection directly into the penis. Some users of Alprostadil reported side effects including persistent erection which can become painful. Alprostadil "has been proven very effective, but it was just too painful to apply because you have to inject into the parts," Dr. T. Tom Wu, from NexMed Limited told Reuters. Befar is "the first non-invasive drug that is very user-friendly," he added. It interacts less with ingested medications since it's applied topically, NexMed claims. Compared to other treatments for ED Alprox-TD appears to have faster onset time and minimal side effect profile.
